Nicki Minaj’s “Chun-Li” Certified Platinum

The song was freestyled in a couple of minutes, according to Minaj.

Nicki Minaj’s “Chun-Li” single has been certified platinum, the rapper revealed on Instagram Monday. The single, which is set to appear on her upcoming fourth album Queen, peaked at No. 10 on the Hot 100 and was certified gold back in March. In her post, Nicki described it as a “cute little song I freestyled in a cpl mins.” She also thanked her “very own” producer J Reid, who created the instrumentals for both “Chun-Li” and “Barbie Tingz” as his first big placements.

The news comes after “FeFe,” Nicki’s collaboration with controversial rapper 6ix9ine became her highest-charting song of 2018 and her 93rd entry into the Hot 100, pushing her past Kanye West’s total of 92 and behind only 5 others: Glee Cast (207), Drake (186), Lil Wayne (138), Elvis Presley (108) and JAY-Z (98). She also thanked 6ix9ine in the post. “Congratulations to @6ix9ine [so smart, genuine & humble] , thx for allowing me to make history w|you today, ugly!” she wrote. Nicki has been criticized for working with the rapper by some due to his criminal history. In 2015, 6ix9ine pled guilty to a felony count for Use of a Child in a Sexual Performance

Queen is scheduled to be released on August 10th. “Chun-Li” was released as the first single and followed up by “Bed” with Ariana Grande as the second. It will also contain the promotional single “Rich Sex” with Lil Wayne.
