Usman Mohammed’s Goal Against Atletico Madrid Brings Back Memories Of Jay-Jay Okocha

The friendly match between Nigeria and Atletico Madrid went down yesterday, and although Nigeria lost 2-3, the game convinced us that the country has more World Cup-ready players than we might have realized — thanks, in no small part, to Usman Mohammed’s incredible goal.

In the 79th minute of the friendly game, he snatched the edges off Atletico’s defense by pulling off a dribble that left three defenders confused. The muddled defense allowed him to finish off the performance with a goal, leaving us all giddy with excitement.

The 24-year-old played for Ranchers Bees FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League before taking up a deal in Norway, where he now plays for Sarpsborg 08 Fotballforening. With this performance, he has certainly announced himself as a player to watch.

Here’s the sensational goal:

Mohammed may not know it, but he brought back fond memories of Jay-Jay Okocha’s legendary style of football.

While social media is blowing up with his praise, some have already pointed out the similarity between his goal and the one Okocha scored for Eintracht Frankfurt more than two decades ago.
