Jesse Lingard Explains Why Players Are Not Celebrating Juventus Victory

Two late goals for Jose Mourinho’s men sealed an unlikely win over the Old Lady in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

After Cristiano Ronaldo had put the home side ahead in Turin it looked like they would add to their tally and go on to win the game.

But inspired substitutions from Mourinho changed the game, with Juan Mata netting a sublime free-kick before Marouane Fellaini caused havoc in the Juve defence and an own goal from Leonardo Bonucci sealed the win.

And Manchester United now look likely to qualify from their group with a win over Young Boys at Old Trafford could see them progress.

The Red Devils now go into Sunday’s Manchester Derby full of confidence following four wins in their last five games – but Lingard insists they can only get better.

Pep Guardiola’s City have started the season in imperious form, winning all but two of their Premier League games so far.

United shocked the champions in the same fixture last season, coming back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at the Etihad.

“We are enjoying our football, enjoying winning games and enjoying the pressure of playing in big games, big Champions League matches,” he said.

“You cannot write us off easily. We will fight until the end and we will get late goals as we have done over the last few games.

“This game will give us a lot of confidence going into the next match. We have still got a lot to work on. As a whole, we are doing well and the confidence is up.”

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Mourinho will be on the touchline for Sunday’s game.

However the FA seems determined not to let him off the hook over a charge of using foul and abusive language.

Mourinho was caught swearing on television cameras as he left the pitch at the end of United’s 3-2 win against Newcastle.

The FA have decided to appeal against the findings of an Independent Regulatory Commission that cleared Mourinho of misconduct for the comments.
