Ronaldinho Is €2 Million In Debt, Authorities Get A Surprise When They Check His Accounts

Let’s face it: Ronaldinho has a legendary status for his skills on the pitch, but that doesn’t translate well in his personal life.

You see, the 38-year-old retired Brazilian footballer has unpaid debts up to €2 million. According to Marca, a judge ordered for his passport to be seized due to the money he owes.

When it came to paying back that debt back, however, the Brazilian authorities found that he only had €6 in his bank accounts.

You read that right.

Not €600,000 or €6 million: we’re talking about €6, which translates to £5.25 at the time of this writing.

Along with his brother, Ronaldinho was issued a fine for illegal construction in a protected area.

The Spanish newspaper reports that the former Barcelona and AC Milan star had put up their property for mortgage in the hope of paying off the debt, though it doesn’t seem to have worked due to the high interest rate that has built up over four years.

The Ballon d’Or winner called it time on his club career in 2015, making only seven appearances for Fluminense before his contract was terminated.

He announced his retirement from all forms of football in 2018 and has been an ambassador for Barcelona since 2017.
